Robert Fowler ~ Victorian-Era painter




Robert Fowler [1853-1926] was an Scottish artist who painted mythological scenes and landscapes. Fowler was born in Anstruther, Fife, and was brought up mainly by his uncle and aunt while his parents were away on business. He showed a very early aptitude for art, starting first with pencil drawings then moving on to painting and clay modelling.

André Chatelain, 1951


Born in Dorion -Quebec in 1951. André Chatelain has worked with Madeleine Leonard Tremblay and Charles T.Garo.Creative classes with Louise Jalbert and drawing with Claudine Ascher along with training from The Academy of Realist Art, a private institution that teaches drawing and painting in the old-master tradition, have directed the artist to dedicate himself to oil technique on canvas applied in the old-master method of realist art. The artist has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions and is fully devoted to oil painting and drawing. His work is part of private collections throughout Canada, the United States and France.

Jeff Barson, 1966


Barson was born in Logan, Utah. At the age of nine, his family moved to England where Barson attended Beechwood Park Preparatory School. Over the next years, Barson traveled extensively throughout Europe and was exposed to its great museums and fine artistic legacy. He credits his early interests in Art and Literature to this move which provided an excellent education and inspiration for the creative young Barson. Barsons paintings have hung in galleries in New York, Boston and Los Angeles. His limited edition prints are distributed nationally and have met with great enthusiasm from the press and public. U.S. Art Magazine named him one of six artists that will change the limited edition print market.

Robert Berran, 1923


Robert Berran was born in Mt. Vernon, New York and raised in Scarsdale, New York. At the age of 19, he joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII, from 1942-1945, with Gen. Patton's 3rd Army in Europe, as a combat medic. After the war, Berran studied at the Art Student's League in NYC (1945-1950) under the G.I. Bill with well-known artists, including Arnold Bank, Howard Trafton and Frank Reilly.

Ermanno Vites, 1936


Ermanno Vites, pittore Italiano, scultore e ceramista, è nato a Gorizia. E' stato diplomato Maestro d’Arte presso l’Istituto F. Mengaroni di Pesaro.
I soggetti: Figure, nature morte, fiori e composizioni.
Le tecniche: Olio, acrilico, tempera, tecnica mista, ceramica e scultura.
Una sua opera si trova al Museo della Ceramica di Faenza e al Museo della Ceramica della Repubblica di San Marino;
Un grande basso-rilievo in ceramica si trova alla Banca Malatestiana di S.Giustina-S.Vito, Rimini;
Una scultura in ceramica “Cristo Risorto“ e le stazioni della Via Crucis si trovano presso la chiesa della Riconciliazione di Rimini.

Chen Yongle, 1944


Chinese painter Chen Yongle is a leading artist of what is today called the Yunnan Art School. He is among the few contemporary Chinese printmakers who can claim a series of international exhibitions. The artist works in the technique of reduction woodblock prints - printed with thick oil-based colors. Chen Yongle's works remind in technique and style of Hao Ping, another Yunnan Art School representative.

Frédéric Soulacroix | Academic painter


The son of the well known painter and sculptor Charles (Montpellier, 1825-Firenze, 1899) and of Giacinta Diofebo, Charles Joseph Frédéric Soulacroix (1858-1933) lived until spring 1863 in Rome and later in Boulogne-sur-Mer (where his father Charles was painting the frescoes of the local cathedral), in Paris and, since 1870, in Italy in Firenze. In 1873, at 15, Frédéric enters the “Accademia di Belle Arti” of Firenze and in Octobre 1876 is admitted to the “Scuola di Pittura”.
1890: June the 6th, he marries in Florence Julie Fernande Blanc. They live in Piazza Donatello, 21 in a charming house with rear garden they acquire. Firenze sees the birth of four boys: Olivier, George, Gabriel and a girl, Amélie Florence.

Léon Commere | Orientalist Academic painter



Léon François Comerre (10 October 1850 - 20 February 1916) was a French academic painter, famous for his portraits of beautiful women.
Comerre was born in Trélon, in the Département du Nord, the son of a schoolteacher. He moved to Lille with his family in 1853. From an early age he showed an interest in art and became a student of Alphonse Colas at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lille, winning a gold medal in 1867. From 1868 a grant from the Département du Nord allowed him to continue his studies in Paris at the famous École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in the studio of Alexandre Cabanel. There he came under the influence of Orientalism.
