Paul Cézanne ~ The Bather series

Bathers were another of Paul Cézanne's [1839-1906] themes. Women bathers are usually presented in large pyramidal groups, overlapping, mostly with their backs to the viewer. His men generally face forward, almost in a frieze. They are individuals in the same scenery, neither interacting nor overlapping. There is no eye contact between any of them. Cézanne's only real passion was his art, but that passion was never revealed on the canvas itself.

Ottone Rosai ~ Futurist painter

Ottone Rosai 1895-1957 | Italian Futurist painter

Giovanni Fattori ~ Macchiaioli Art Movement

Giovanni Fattori 1825-1908 | Italian painter | Verismo/Realism movement

Italian painter Giovanni Fattori (1825-1908) was one of the leaders of the group known as the Macchiaioli. He was initially a painter of historical themes and military subjects. In his middle years, inspired by the Barbizon school, he became one of the leading Italian plein-airists, painting landscapes, rural scenes, and scenes of military life. After 1884, he devoted much energy to etching.
Fattori was born in modest circumstances in Livorno. His early education was rudimentary and his family initially planned for him to study for a qualification in commerce, but his skill in drawing persuaded them to apprentice him in 1845 to Giuseppe Baldini (1807-1876), a local painter of religious themes and genre subjects. The following year he moved to Florence where he first studied under Giuseppe Bezzuoli and, later in the year, at the Accadèmia di Belli Arti. At that time, however, his energies were directed less toward the study of art than to reading the historical novels (especially those with medieval themes) of such authors as Ugo Foscolo, Francesco Domenico Guerrazzi and Walter Scott.

Gregg Chadwick ~ Figurative painter

Chadwick has exhibited his artworks in galleries and museums both nationally and internationally. He earned a Bachelor's Degree at UCLA and a Master’s Degree at NYU, both in Fine Art. Currently I paint in an old airplane hangar in Santa Monica, California. The recurring sound of airplane take-offs and landings from the active airport runaway outside my studio reminds me of my own history of travel. After I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art at UCLA and my Master’s Degree in Fine Art at NYU, my wanderings took me from the U.S. to Asia to Australia to Europe and back, again and again. These wanderings have helped provide a series of spaces that appear within my paintings.
One could say we all create paintings as we distill meaning from the rush of life. Experiences, thoughts, moments, memories, and dreams mix together and overlap to bring understanding to our everyday life. My paintings echo this cognitive-emotional process. My artworks evolve through a series of painting sessions in which colors and images overlap, merge, and flow.

I Have a Dream - Martin Luther King

Kawasaki's works are oil paintings painted directly onto wood panels, and her style has been described as a fusion of Art Nouveau and Japanese manga.

Salvador Dali | Quotes / Aforismi

I believe that the moment is near when by a procedure of active paranoiac thought, it will be possible to systematize confusion and contribute to the total discrediting of the world of reality.
  • If you understand a painting beforehand, you might as well not paint it.
  • We are all hungry and thirsty for concrete images. Abstract art will have been good for one thing: to restore its exact virginity to figurative art.
  • At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since.
  • The terrifying and edible beauty of Art Nouveau architecture.
  • I seated ugliness on my knee, and almost immediately grew tired of it.
