Angel Boligan, 1965 | Surreal cartoonist / illustrator




Angel Boligàn Corbo was born in Havana. In 1992 he moved to Mexico. He draws for the newspaper EL UNIVERSAL and the satirical magazines CONOZCA MÁS and EL CHAMUCO. He is a member of the cartoonist group "Cartooning for Peace" and won worldwide more than 130 prizes in cartoon competitions.

Artur Muharremi, 1958 | Allegorical painter



Artur Muharremi is one of the most important Albanian contemporary painters. Muharremi has started to create before the political changes leading Albania to democracy took place. With his well known painting 'Before Creation' (1989), Muharremi was one of those very few artists, who shook off and warned the Albanian society of nineties against the crisis that was going to break. Artur Muharremi completed university studies of scenography and contributed actively and significantly as a painter and producer for the development transformation and qualitative amelioration of the animated film.

Korean-born American painter Chin H. Shin has a Master of Art Degree from Long Island University. His past affiliation includes, Oil painters of America, American Society of Marine Artist, Portrait Society of America, member of Huntington Art Council, a judge for Bold Brush International Art Competition and teaches art classes by request.

Даниил Волков/Daniil Volkov, 1974 | Abstract Impressionist painter


Даниил Волков was born in Yalta, the son of renowned Ukrainian artists with an ancestral history of painters going back to the court of Imperial Russia.
In 1989 he entered the Crimean art school named after Samokish and it was here that he met his future wife Elena, also a distinguished artist. He graduated in 1989 and his first solo exhibition was held in Yalta in 1995.

Pascale Taurua, 1960 | Mixed media/Fashion painter



French artist Pascale-Miria Taurua is painting since her young age. She was born in New Caledonia and went to Art School in Tahiti. After leaving there for a few years she went to Paris and then the South of France where she lives in both places since 2006.

Edward Mitchell Bannister | Tonalist painter



Edward Mitchell Bannister (ca. 1828-1901) was a Black Canadian-American Tonalist painter. Like other Tonalists, his style and predominantly pastoral subject matter were drawn from his admiration for Millet and the French Barbizon School.
Bannister was born in St. Andrews, New Brunswick and moved to New England in the late 1840s, where he remained for the rest of his life.

Stefano Puleo, 1950 | The Arcane Movement



Stefano Puleo was born in the province of Catania Acitrezza, Italy. His first approach to painting dates back to adolescence, when he saw up close the works of great masters like Guttuso, Migneco, Barbaro, Mirabella and many others who participated in the Acitrezza Award during the early sixties. In 1964, he enrolled at the Art School of Catania. The year 1966 dates his artistic debut in expositions and participation in competitions. At that time, his production mainly included  drawings and small sculptures.

Christophe Charbonnel, 1967 | Figurative sculptor



Christophe Charbonnel was born in Nantes. He has been working with sculpture for 17 years. In 2002, he decides to make a living from sculpture and quits his cartoonist job at the Walt Disney studios in Montreuil, to move with his family in the Yvelines. he dedicates himself full time to his practice. Quickly, he becomes aware that he belongs to a lineage of sculptors whose technique, learned in 1995 at the Duperré school in Philippe Seené's studio, consists of working with profiles.

Edmund Blair Leighton | Victorian-Era painter



Although his name is not commonly known, Edmund Blair Leighton's most famous works are among the most widely recognized paintings of the period. His works of Godspeed (1900) and the Accolade (1901), can be seen in almost every poster shop around the world and are used as the epitome of medieval iconography. If one looks at the visual elements in Godspeed for example, it becomes evident that very few paintings encapsulate with such a strong a sense, the sensibilities of this genre. The beautiful maiden on the steps of a stone castle, the knight in shining armor, the white steed, and the sense of immediate peril which threatens the subjects contentment almost define our modern day conception of Medieval legend and romantic sentiment.

George Lawrence Bulleid | Watercolour Victorian-Era painter


British painter George Lawrence Bulleid (1858-1933) was born in Glastonbury, Somerset in 1858, the son of a local solicitor and Councillor. Bulleid joined the family firm but in 1881 but soon left to study at the Marylebone and West London School of Art under the instruction of the Principal, George Simpson. As with so many Victorian artists of the time, he had a strong affection for classicism and antiquity,his early work would typically be of dark and sombre canvases with groups of figures arranged within an archetectural structure, or contemplative individuals at moments of decision or classical melancholy.

Antoni Gaudí | Symbolism/Art Nouveau Architect



Antoni Gaudí, Catalan in full Antoni Gaudí i Cornet, Spanish Antonio Gaudí y Cornet (born June 25, 1852, Reus, Spain-died June 10, 1926, Barcelona), Catalan architect, whose distinctive style is characterized by freedom of form, voluptuous colour and texture, and organic unity. Gaudí worked almost entirely in or near Barcelona. Much of his career was occupied with the construction of the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family (Sagrada Família), which was unfinished at his death in 1926.

Birge Harrison | Tonalist painter



Lovell Birge Harrison (October 28, 1854, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - 1929) was an American genre and landscape painter, teacher and writer. He was a prominent practitioner and advocate of Tonalism.
Born in Philadelphia, Birge Harrison was the brother of artist T. Alexander Harrison. He studied first at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1874, and later credited Thomas Eakins as a positive influence on his own teaching style. He then went to Paris on the advice of John Singer Sargent to study with Carolus-Duran and at the École des Beaux-Arts under Cabanel. In 1881 Harrison exhibited at the Paris Salon, and in 1882 his Salon entry, Novembre, became one of the first paintings by an American artist to be purchased by the French government.

Sabin Howard | Classical figures sculptor



The Torino-born sculptor Sabin Howard grew up in New York City and in Torino, Italy. He studied art at the Philadelphia College of Art and then earned his MFA from the New York Academy of Art. For twenty years, he taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has been elected to the board of the National Sculpture Society. He has received numerous commissions and has showed his work at more than fifty solo and group shows.

Angeles Anglada, 1965 | Figurative sculptress



Spanish artist Maria Angeles Anglada studied sculpture at the Fine Arts School of Zaragoza between 1985-1988. Afterwards she started her professional path in 1989 when she began to develop her first sculptures.

Filippo De Pisis | The Metaphysical Art Movement



Filippo De Pisis (11 May 1896 - 2 April 1956) was an Italian painter -poet who was born Luigi Filippo Tibertelli in Ferrara. In 1919 De Pisis moved to Rome, where he started to paint. While important editors of his time criticized had De Pisis for producing overly-sentimental poetry, this emotional streak translated well on canvas. De Pisis is best known for his cityscapes, metaphysically-inspired maritime scenes and still lifes, especially those depicting flowers.

Giovanni Boldini | The Master of Swish



Giovanni Boldini (1842-1931) was an Italian genre and portrait painter, hu enjoyed a long and successful artistic career.
Boldini's nervous, sketch-like manner, in many ways anticipating the art of the 20th century.
In 1933, Time Magazine once referred to this painter, who was also a friend of John Singer Sargent and Degas, as the "Master of Swish".

Edward Willis Redfield | Impressionist Landscape painter



Among the New Hope impressionists painters, Edward Willis Redfield [1869-1965] was the most decorated, winning more awards than any American artist except John Singer Sargent. Primarily a landscape painter, Redfield was acclaimed as the most "American" artist of the New Hope school because of his vigor and individualism. Redfield favored the technique of painting En Plein Air, that is, outdoors amidst nature.

Carolus Duran | Academic painter



Charles Auguste Émile Durand, known as Carolus-Duran (Lille 4 July 1837 - 17 February 1917 Paris), was a French painter and art instructor. He is noted for his stylish depictions of members of high society in Third Republic France.
Carolus-Duran studied at the Lille Academy and then at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1861, he traveled to Italy and Spain for further study, especially devoting himself to the pictures of Velázquez. His dramatic painting Murdered, or The Assassination (1866), was one of his first successes, and is now in the Lille museum.
