Thomas Danthony, 1988 | Surreal Spaces

Born in Montpellier, in the South of France, Thomas Danthony is a designer and illustrator based in London.
Danthony graduated from a Master in Product Design. He dedicates himself to illustration after moving to London. Since then, Thomas Danthony as freelance for the Press and for advertising on difference projects, for european but also american clients such as Google, Arte, Netflix or Liberty.

Since winning the Handsome Future award he has gone on to show that he is one of the most talented and upcoming illustrators adding the likes of M and C Saatchi, Microsoft, Nokia and Little White Lies to his client list. His work often contains a narrative enhanced with the clever use of lighting that allows the images to tell a story and make the spectator think.

Thomas Danthony gets his inspiration from cinema, architecture, photography and painting. To understand his vintage world, you need to come back to the beginning of the 20th century. Fond of the early twentieth century illustration, Thomas Danthony is using gouache to create his artworks. Through round shapes, solid colors and strong contrasts that characterize his aesthetic, the artist demonstrates a great sense of detail and composition.

His work often contains a narrative enhanced with a clever use of light that allows the images to tell a story and makes the spectator think. Since his first solo show in Paris in 2015, he is now painting regularly.
His client list includes, among others, Ray Ban, Google, The New York Time, TFL, Mondo, Liberty, Penguin, English National Opera, Netflix, Architect Magazine, Arte, Nokia, Sadler's Wells Theatre.
