Damiano Taurino, 1949 | Figurative sculptor


Italian sculptor Damiano Taurino was born in Galugnano, in the municipality of San Donato di Lecce, the beautiful land of Salento, rich in historical traditions dating back thousands of years to the ancient Greek civilization and messapica (1000 BC).
This land, with its historical and cultural heritage, is able to inculcate in the young Damiano, the secret desire of the model, the ability to extract, from a piece of clay, images and figures lovely.
At age 16 he emigrated to Switzerland, he settled in Horgen-Zurich and spent a period devoted to education and training.


Since returning to Italy in 1981, he has been living and working in Cesena in Emilia-Romagna.
Here is dedicated, full-time to his passion native, sculpture and, in particular, the modeling of the clay.
Taurino shapes his models in clay. Here his muse is often Terpsichore, the "muse of the dance", and he takes up the motif of dancing again and again.

Many dancers are found in his work.
In the process, he has developed a reliable rhythmic feel for the body tension that flows through his gracefully dancing figures.
His artistic work does not follow pre-established guidelines because it is characterized by a strong originality, which is expressed not in abstract forms or impersonal, but concrete and marked by realism alive intense.

In figures sculpted by Taurino the observer can grasp movements, attitudes, postures that can communicate the dynamism of modern life, dreams, joys and hopes of which the human soul is the bearer.




















Damiano Taurino nasce a Galugnano, nel comune di San Donato di Lecce, la bellissima terra del Salento, ricca di tradizioni storiche risalenti a migliaia di anni all'antica civiltà greca e messapica (1000 a.C.).
Questa terra, con il suo patrimonio storico e culturale, riesce ad inculcare nel giovane Damiano, il segreto desiderio del modello, la capacità di estrarre, da un pezzo di creta, immagini e figure incantevoli.
A 16 anni emigrò in Svizzera, si stabilì a Horgen-Zurigo e trascorse un periodo dedicato all'istruzione e alla formazione.
Rientrato in Italia nel 1981, vive e lavora a Cesena in Emilia-Romagna.


Qui si dedica, a tempo pieno, alla sua passione nativa, la scultura ed, in particolare, la modellazione dell'argilla.
Taurino plasma i suoi modelli in creta.
Qui la sua musa è spesso Tersicore, la "musa della danza", e riprende ripetutamente il motivo della danza.
Molti ballerini si trovano nel suo lavoro.


Nel processo, ha sviluppato una sensazione ritmica affidabile per la tensione del corpo che scorre attraverso le sue figure danzanti con grazia.
Il suo lavoro artistico non segue linee guida prestabilite perché è caratterizzato da una forte originalità, che si esprime non in forme astratte o impersonali, ma concrete e improntate a un realismo vivo e intenso.
Nelle figure scolpite da Taurino l'osservatore può cogliere movimenti, atteggiamenti, posture che possono comunicare il dinamismo della vita moderna, i sogni, le gioie e le speranze di cui l'animo umano è portatore.
