The bold, linear symmetry of Art Déco painting is a district departure from the soft pastels and flowing asymmetrical organic forms of it's predecessor Art Nouveau; it embraced influences from many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Neoclassical, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism and Futurism and drew inspiration from Egyptian and Aztec forms.
Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Déco was purely decorative.
Helena Lam currently lives in Canada with her husband AU Ching who is also a professional artist.
Helena has a keen interest in painting and as such devotes most of her leisure time to her passion and love of this art form; she believes that her work is a variety of fusion artwork combining eastern and western images and lifestyle.
