Fruit Carving

Fruit carving is the art of carving fruit, a very common technique in Europe and Asian countries, and particularly popular in Thailand, China and Japan.

There are many fruits that can be used in this process; the most popular one that artists use are watermelons, apples, strawberries, pineapples, and cantaloupes.

In 2013 he won the price "Grigore Bradea", a distinction given only to the most talented Romanian sculptures.

Luo was born in Hongqi, Hunan province, China.

In 1998, Luo entered the Changsha Academy of Arts in Changsha, Hunan and studied with Xiao Xiaoqiu.

From 2000 to 2005 she studied sculpture at the CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China) with Sun Jiabo.

Masayo Odahashi / 小田橋昌代 was born in Mie, Japan.

She earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Aichi University of Education in Japan, Her master's degree was in fine arts, with an art education specialty.

In 2010, she had a solo exhibition, Inner Sight, at the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark.

Her work is in the permanent collections of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung in Germany, and Glasmuseet Ebeltoft.

Sir Anish Mikhail Kapoor, CBE, RA is a British-Indian sculptor specializing in installation art and conceptual art.

Born in Mumbai, Kapoor attended the elite all-boys Indian boarding school The Doon School, before moving to the UK to begin his art training at Hornsey College of Art and, later, Chelsea School of Art and Design.

His notable public sculptures include Cloud Gate (2006, also known as "The Bean") in Chicago's Millennium Park; Sky Mirror, exhibited at the Rockefeller Center in New York City in 2006 and Kensington Gardens in London in 2010; Temenos, at Middlehaven, Middlesbrough; Leviathan, at the Grand Palais in Paris in 2011; and ArcelorMittal Orbit, commissioned as a permanent artwork for London's Olympic Park and completed in 2012.

Aimé-Jules Dalou (1838-1902) was a 19th-century French sculptor, admired for his perceptiveness, execution, and unpretentious realism.

He was one of the founders of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and was the first president of the sculpture section.

The display in the two rooms which together make up the Hall of the Animals was set up under Pope Pius VI (1775-1799) with antique works of art, often much restored and sometimes completely re-worked, with the aim of creating a 'stone zoo'.

Many artists worked on the sculptures in this display during the 1700s, the most important of whom was Francesco Antonio Franzoni.

As a result of short working experiences, she opened in Buja, in the province of Udine, her own studio - Ideando Pubblicità - operating in the commercial art field.

Daniel Popper, 1983 | Surrealist sculptor

Shortly after receiving a degree in painting in 2006, Popper began exploring installation and performing art.

In 2010, Popper was commissioned to create a brand activation using puppetry and performance for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

In 2012, he was invited by Boom Festival in Portugal to create immersive stage and production design.

Popper was later commissioned to create a memorial statue dedicated to Nelson Mandela at the Nelson Mandela School of Science and Technology in 2014.

Antonio Ligabue (born Antonio Laccabue, 18 December 1899 - 27 May 1965) was an Italian painter and sculptor.

He was one of the most important Naïve artists of the 20th century.

He was born in Zürich, Switzerland on 18 December 1899, to Elisabetta Costa, a native from Cencenighe Agordino, and supposedly to Bonfiglio Laccabue (the true identity of the father is still unknown), native from Reggio Emilia.

Paola Grizi, 1968 | Surrealist sculptor

Italian sculptor Paola Grizi has spent her entire life immersed in the art world.

As the granddaughter of a well known Italian painter and sculptor and the niece of a ceramicist Piero Grizi (1885-1976), her creativity was fostered from a young age.

This has translated into a successful career as an artist, where she is particularly known for her unique terracotta and bronze sculptures.

At age 16 he emigrated to Switzerland, he settled in Horgen-Zurich and spent a period devoted to education and training.

Laurits Tuxen | Skagen painter/sculptor

Laurits Regner Tuxen was brought up in Copenhagen. As the son of a naval officer, he originally wanted to be a marine artist. When training at the Royal Danish Academy of fine Arts, he and Peder Severin Krøyer were considered to be the most talented students.

Tuxen first visited Skagen in 1870, and he returned several times during the 1870s. More than 20 years would pass before he returned in 1901.

During that time Tuxen trained as a painter in Paris together with Peder Severin Krøyer and he was one of the co-founders of the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, which was established as an alternative to the academy.

Tuxen became a popular portrait painter and travelled a lot due to commissions from the royal courts of Europe.

Gustaf Theodor Wallén | Genre painter

A painter of landscape, coastal scenes, portraits and sculpture, Gustaf Theodor Wallén was an artist of considerable renown achieving significant success in Paris and in Sweden.

He was born in Stockholm 14th December 1860.

Wallén studied at the Academy of Art under George von Rosen (1843-1923), a professor at the Academy from 1860-1908.

In 1887 Wallén won a travel award which enabled him to study in Paris at the Académie Colarossi and, under William Bouguereau at the Academie Julian.
