Candace Charlton was born in Durban, South Africa in 1968.
She attended the Johannesburg School of Art, Ballet, Drama and Music from 1983-1986.
Charlton received two scholarships and enrolled at the Rhodes University in Grahamstown where she graduated in Fine Art and majored in Sculpture and History of Art.
Painting full-time since 1997.
From 1997 Charlton worked with the Elizabeth Gordon Gallery in Durban, holding her first solo exhibition in 1998 which received wide appreciation from the public.
In 2000 Charlton moved to Europe. She currently lives and works in The Netherlands and Italy and is represented by Morren Galleries.
The human form and combination of figurative and abstract features is the main focus in her work.
Her paintings show intensely studied portraits where she tries to reveal the depth of the human psyche.
More recently Charlton begun to feature landscape in her paintings.
Candace Charlton regularly holds exhibitions, both in The Netherlands as well as in South Africa.
Charlton strives to discover and reveal the mystery and depth of the human psyche in her intensively studied portraits and figurative compositions.
In recent years the landscape has also begun to appear in her paintings.
Her love of rendering a mood and atmosphere finds a new expression using nature as her subject matter.

Charlton ha ricevuto due borse di studio e si è iscritta alla Rhodes University di Grahamstown, dove si è laureata in Belle Arti.
