Zhang Jing Sheng 张京生, 1940 | Plein air /Palette knife painter



Zhang Jing Sheng 张京生 is a professor and tutor for graduate students at the Tianjin Fine Arts Academy. He received State Allowance.
In 1967, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Central Fine Arts Academy. He won the silver prize at 'The Chine Fine Arts Exhibition'.
Between 1989 and 1990 he went to America to visit scholars and hold an exhibition, at the request of the Tao Sen University.






Zhang Jing Sheng tried to reveal the intensity of color, often working with a palette knife to let his colors reach their most brilliant and richest point.
He painted in layers, alternating the thick and the thin to give his colors a dynamic tension.
There were also influences from ink painting in that he manipulated the emptiness and fullness, the tinting of colors, the flowing of energy as would an ink painter.





He held solo exhibitions in Taipei in 1996 and 1997 and in 1998, he returned to America, at the request of the Governemnt of Houston, where he exhibited solo and was awarded an honorary citizenship.
He toured Europe and met with European famous artists in 2000 and in 2001, by invitation for the third time, on this occasion by an American mayor, Zhang Jing Sheng returned to the US where he held another solo exhibition and received an honors certificate.
His works have been collected by the Chinese Fine Arts Museum, the Shanghai Fine Arts Museum as well as private collectors at home and abroad.
Between 1990-2003, he has issued various monographs and painting volume.
