Contemporary paintings by David FeBland, London-born, New York-based painter, exploring narratives with characters negotiating different situations and environments.
Although born in London, David is very much a New Yorker. He was educated at the Universities of Cincinnati, Manchester and Virginia in the early 1970s. His highly distinctive figurative paintings have been exhibited across the United States. His work can be found in the corporate collections of the American Express Company, AT and T, the Chase Manhattan Bank Corporation, Citibank Corporation, Columbia Broadcasting System, Dupont Chemical, the Exxon Corporation, Hilton Hotels International, the Mobil Corporation, the Museum of the City of New York, the Prudential Insurance Company and Trans World Airlines amongst many others.

An internationally renowned painter, David FeBland immigrated to the United States as a child. After receiving his BA in Political Science at the University of Cincinnati, he went on to study town planning and environmental design at the University of Manchester before earning a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. After a brief tenure working in the field of environmental design, he began a highly successful career in New York as a freelance illustrator and worked for leading magazines, advertising agencies and publishers for the next 15 years, contributing his work to campaigns and publications in Japan, the UK and Europe, and throughout the US.
David has been a juror on several national art competitions and he has held a number of academic posts, the most recent begin Associate Professor of Architectural Drawing at the City University of New York. Over the last 25 years, he has traveled through over 50 countries on a bicycle and draws from these experiences for many of his inspirations for new work.
