Nicolae Vermont | Genre painter

Romanian painter Nicolae Vermont 1866-1932 was one of the masters of Romanian Realist painting and one of the most interesting painters, muralists and draftsmen of his time, as many viewed him as an associate of Stefan Luchian.
He was a prolific and surprisingly innovative artist, with a strong, original style and manner and quite a broad choice of subjects, but he preferred landscapes and still lifes.
Vermont was one of the most interesting and influential voices of his generation, marking and changing the landscape of Romanian painting, as he always tried to offer something more, something new, to challenge rules and themes, to offer the viewer an artistic experience that was strikingly beautiful and shockingly fresh and alive. A great master and a great name.

Lohmuller Gyuri, 1962 | Surrealist painter

Gyuri Lohmuller was born in Gataia, Romania. Self-educated painter, having exhibitions in Austria, Germany, France and Hungary, is willing to share his inner world.
His paintings reflect his deepest emotions. "The emotion", he says, "Is Art".
He prefers the surrealist themes.

"Well, I have not a spectaculars biography. No much exhibitions, no awards, no success. I'm self-educated in the arts field, without schools or official studies.
I can say that I have really discovered my painting 20 years ago, because I’ve never seen someone painting, not even how to begin. It came all alone by many testing. After a while I've sold a few paintings and that gave me the courage to continue.
My exhibition record doesn’t include much, because I always prefer to work in silence, only me and my art. In 1997 I had an exhibition in Gataia, my home town, at the "National House".

Then it was the private gallery Jacky Pitaud in Monbart, France, who exposed my works. In 1997 -1998, a private famous gallery in Budapest.
In 1998 and in 2005 I participated at a group exhibition in Austria at Oberwart.
It was very difficult because of my themes, in the time of full-blown communism in Romania I was forbidden. Since that time I reach to survive by my paintings but very, very hard. Even today, I have not money to buy a photo camera to make captures of my artworks. I left my job 20 years ago taking the risk, but believing in art.
So, life is good, but we must look at the full part of the glass"!

Octavian Florescu, 1957

I was born in the Southern Romanian town of Craiova. In 1979, I interrupted my university studies in engineering to become a full-time painter. For five years I studied church painting and restoration that gave me the opportunity to learn and master all painting techniques from the ancient fresco to the contemporary oil and acrylic. The influence of the Byzantine style is noticeable in the suppleness of the personages. Since 1989, while in Hungary, I completely dedicated myself to surrealism. Moving to Canada meant real international recognition. I won various national and international awards and have been shown and celebrated in several art galleries. The prizes include first place at the "International Salon of Art" in Montreal, and at the national HMV "Music in Visual Art", Canada. My paintings have been featured in galleries and exhibitions in Romania, Hungary, Canada, the United States, Austria, France and Mexico.

Zoltan Molnos | The Transylvanian Dalí

It is now more than 80 years since the Surrealism, in a smoky Parisian café, was officially born, After long decades of peak and slow agony, when the world was still celebrating its most famous master, Salvador Dali, far from the French and Spanish lands, in a small Transylvanian town, inhabited by hard-working people of Hungarian minority, the surrealism had its second birth on the canvas of a that time unknown young Romanian painter, Zoltán Molnos.
It might seem curious that the surrealism, the most spectacular limb of the avant-garde movement, which had its philosophy in protesting against the inhumanity of the “civilised” world, had its renaissance in a city from Romania.
