Joseph Zbukvic, 1952 | Plein-air Watercolor painter

Joseph Zbukvic was born in Zagreb, today’s Croatian capital.
From childhood he was fond of art, but his parents thought it wasn’t an important talent, so Joseph was sent to a Pedagogical University, where he studied languages.
The political instability in Yugoslavia forced the Zbukvic family to leave their home and move to Australia.
Of course the education had to be abandoned.
A few years later the name of Joseph Zbukvic became famous, despite his parents wish to bury the talent of their son.

Now he is exhibiting all around the world, and frequently holds master classes, and teaches in many art schools in Europe and North America.
Joseph Zbukvic is a leading master of his time in watercolor painting and techniques.
His impressive achievements and enormous success are due to his ability to transform any subject into visual poetic language.
Covering an infinite variety of subjects, his sensitive, lyrical and atmospheric paintings have captured people and galleries from all around the world.

- "I try to achieve a balance of harmony between tonal values, design, colour and mood that will visually evoke the emotions between the viewer and the painting".

Joseph was honored as being one of 6 judges in the prestigious Shenzhen Watercolour Biennial, Shenzhen, China.
