Luo Zhongli / 罗中立, 1948 | Genre painter


Born in Chongqing, Luo Zhongli / 罗中立 is considered one of China's foremost realist painters and known for his portraits of the people of southwestern China.
Luo Zhongli studied oil-painting at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing from ’78 until ’82.
Later on, he continued his studies in Belgium, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
Currently, he is the president of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and is involved in numerous renowned art associations and societies in China.




Luo’s work named “Father🎨” created in 1980, won the Golden Prize🎨 in the Chinese 2nd. National Youth Fine Arts Exhibition.

This work was collected permanently by the China National Fine Arts Museum in Beijing, and it became the milestone of the Chinese contemporary fine arts.
For decades, Luo’s works have been exhibited worldwide and he has become one of the most influential artists in China.
As the president of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, which is one of the most important fine arts academies in China, Luo devotes his effort to the service function of the school based on the demand of the social community.


Under his leadership, Sichuan Fine Arts is entering a new creative era.

Vita e formazione Luo Zhongli è nato a Chongqing nel sud ovest della Cina nel 1948.
Zhongli ha iniziato a frequentare l'arte in una fase iniziale ed è stato assegnato alla scuola media del Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, dove si è laureato nel 1968.
Dopo la laurea, Zhong Li ha trascorso dieci anni in un villaggio vicino alle montagne di Daba nella Cina centrale.
Nel 1978, si unì al dipartimento di pittura ad olio presso l'Istituto di Belle Arti Sichuan, diplomandosi da lì con una laurea nel 1982.
Zhongli continuò a studiare e si iscrisse alla Royal Academy of Fine Arts di Anversa, in Belgio. Si è laureato all'Accademia con un Master in Belle Arti nel 1986.
