Yuri Obukhovsky (Yury Anatolyevich Obukhovsky) / Юрий Обуховский is a contemporary Russian landscape painter born in Perm, Russia.
He is highly celebrated for his vibrant, light-filled artworks painted in a style he describes as "Romantic Realism".
He graduated in 1987 from the painting department of the Penza Art College named after K.A. Savitsky, a school known for upholding strong realistic academic traditions.
He began exhibiting his work publicly in 1989 across prominent galleries in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

By 1992, his international presence grew following a dedicated exhibition of his watercolors in London.
Between 1993 and 2006, his paintings were showcased internationally in Finland, Sweden, and the United States.
He has also been a regular participant in the annual exhibitions at the Central House of Artists in Moscow.

He currently lives and works in Moscow, with his paintings held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
Obukhovsky works primarily with oil paints and watercolors.

His creative approach builds upon the foundations of the classical Russian realistic landscape school - drawing inspiration from legendary masters like Isaac Levitan and Alexei Savrasov - while infusing it with a distinct, sun-drenched romanticism.

Key characteristics of his art include:
👉 The Play of Light: He is highly skilled at capturing changing atmospheric conditions, the transition of seasons and the precise behavior of sunlight and shadows.
👉 Vivid Color Palette: Unlike more somber traditional realism, his landscapes utilize bright, rich colors that evoke a sense of warmth, peace and natural harmony.
👉 Diverse Geography: While he frequently paints traditional Russian nature scenes (such as golden autumn birch forests), he is equally famous for capturing coastal Mediterranean views, sunlit Italian hillsides and coastal Crimean panoramas.
