Candace Charlton was born in Durban, South Africa in 1968.
She attended the Johannesburg School of Art, Ballet, Drama and Music from 1983-1986.
Charlton received two scholarships and enrolled at the Rhodes University in Grahamstown where she graduated in Fine Art and majored in Sculpture and History of Art.

He was born in Ferrara and studied there, probably under Domenico Panetti.
