Ivaylo Petrov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 1984 graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Sofia, and from 1990-1995 he studied at the Bulgarian University of Fine Arts.
Since 1996 has taught at the University of Architecture.
The first solo exhibition was held in 1994.
Has made 14 solo exhibitions in several prestigious galleries of Sofia, as well as a gallery "Renaissance" in Plovdiv and in the gallery "Malovat", Chicago, USA.
Ivaylo Petrov has more than 30 contributions to national and international exhibitions paintings, prints and drawings, as well as participation in the International Biennial of Drawing in La Coruna, Spain, the International Print Biennale, Varna, representative exhibitions of contemporary Bulgarian art in Dusseldorf, Germany Chicago, USA.
Lives and works in Sofia.
