Andrew Judd is a contemporary Canadian painter and illustrator celebrated for his award-winning plein air landscapes and conceptual abstracts.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art (1979), Judd spent decades as a commercial illustrator and art director before transitioning to full-time painting, heavily influenced by his time living and sketching in the cafes of Vienna, Austria.
His work spans vivid, on-location landscapes, urban scenes and conceptual surrealism.
He often explores themes of light, immediacy, and "rhythm" in composition.
Judd has received numerous accolades, including Overall First Place in the Plein Air Salon and multiple honors from Modern Impressionist Magazine.
A significant part of his personal narrative involves discovering his birth mother later in life and finding that she, too, was an artist.
Remarkably, they had independently painted complementary motifs, such as her painting arrows while he painted targets.
Beyond his studio practice, Judd lectures at art colleges and holds private workshops to share his techniques in drawing and painting.
