Massimo Fedele was born in Turin, Italy. After a few months his family moved to Apulia, in San Vito dei Normanni (Brindisi) where he still lives and works. After obtaining a diploma from the local Technical and Commercial Institute, he realised he was not on the right track.
At the age of 23 he started attending Master Filippo Cacace’s studio in Bari, where he learned Renaissance, Baroque and Impressionism painting techniques and created numerous copies of the great masters of the past.
For a long time he worked on commissions for collectors and churches in Brindisi province, until he lost his motivation and started on a more personal quest.
He broke away from figurative realism and became increasingly abstract and introspective.
He introduced the use of materials such as plastics, enamels and fibreglass to his work, while research became his new stimulus which he still pursues.

Formatosi a bottega presso il pittore barese Filippo Cacace, dall'età di 23 anni, Fedele ha conquistato fama e notorietà grazie all'esecuzione di varie pregevoli opere eseguite su commissione in alcune chiese della città dove vive e opera, San Vito dei Normanni (Br), nella Basilica di Santa Maria della Vittoria, nella Chiesa dell’Immacolata e nella Chiesa di Santa Rita, e presso Santa Maria del Soccorso in Carovigno (Br), dove campeggia una splendida Via Crucis (quattordici tele delle dimensioni di 2 metri per 1,20 metri), ispirata alla omonima opera di Giandomenico Tiepolo.
Nel 2014, Massimo Fedele si è conquistato un prezioso primo posto per la pittura al “Premio Napoli per l’arte contemporanea 2014” con la sua “Malafemmena”.
