Lyonel Feininger | Cubist/Expressionist painter

Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956), American-born German painter, was the son of a concert violinist and a singer and pianist from Germany.

In 1887 Feininger followed his parents to Europe, where he attended the drawing and painting class at the "Gewerbeschule" in Hamburg and then studied at the "Königliche Kunst-Akademie" in Berlin from 1888-1892.

For one year he subsequently attended the private art school of the Italian sculptor Filippo Colarossi in Paris.

Kandinsky a Pisa | In esposizione 50 opere

Attraverso 50 opere provenienti in gran parte dal Museo di Stato Russo di San Pietroburgo e da collezioni private, il Palazzo Blu di Pisa, fino a 3 febbraio del 2013, ospiterà la magnifica produzione artistica del padre dell'Astrattismo, Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944).

L'esposizione, tra inediti e capolavori, ripercorre 20 anni di produzione del celebre pittore russo, quella tra il 1901-1922, quando Kandinsky accettò di insegnare al Bauhaus School insieme a Paul Klee (1879-1940), incarico offertogli da Walter Adolph Gropius (1883-1969), uno dei maestri del Movimento Moderno in Architettura.

La Cappella Sistina compie 500 anni

Giulio II inaugurò la conclusione della volta della Cappella Sistina celebrando i vespri del 31 ottobre 1512.

Con l'incarnazione di Cristo, oltre a riscattare l'umanità dal peccato originale, si raggiunge il perfetto ed ultimo compimento della creazione divina, innalzando l'uomo ancora di più verso Dio.

Ieri sera alle 18.00, con la Celebrazione della Solennità di Tutti i Santi nella Cappella Sistina, Benedetto XVI, ripeteva lo stesso gesto in omaggio al capolavoro assoluto di Michelangelo a 500 anni di distanza esatti.

Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833-1898), pittore Britannico, fu il rappresentante più significativo della scuola Pre-Raffaellita in Inghilterra od anche gli ultimi romantici.

Due sue opere, la Crocifissione e l'Albero della vita, sono conservate nella chiesa romana di S.Paolo.

Painted earlier this year to commemorate the beatification of John Paul II, the two originals on canvas: "Nolite Timere" and "Be Not Afraid" pay tribute to the beloved late Pope and depict John Paul II as the Saint and as the charismatic leader of the world accompanied by another legendary figure behind the political changes of the twentieth century, the first President of democratic Poland, Lech Walesa.

On wednesday, October 12.2011, during Tomasz Rut's audience with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI , attended by thousands of spectators from around the world at the St. Peter's square in the Vatican, two large paintings by Tomasz Rut became part of the collection at St. Peter's cathedral after being blessed by the Holy Father.
