Gustave Camille Gaston Cariot (1872-1950) was an French🎨 self-taught artist of the 19th and early 20th century.

Never fully accepting of the label of Impressionism🎨, Cariot is nevertheless best known for his Pointillist paintings🎨.

He was born in 1872 in Paris, France, and his work often explored themes and subjects important to other Impressionist artists - such as Claude Monet's🎨 haystacks and Vincent van Gogh's🎨 cypress trees - rendered in the lush, vibrant greens and yellows of his contemporaries.

At the turn of the century, Cariot developed associations with the Société des Artistes Indépendent and exhibited in major Parisian exhibitions until his death in 1950 in Paris, France.

He exhibited at the Salon National des Beaux Arts and at the Autumn and Winter Salons.
