Lavely Miller, 1978

Lavely Miller paints portraits that narrate the effects of trauma, exploring visual cues that speak to loss, suffering, recovery and salvation.
Physically still, her figures exist in moments of emotional action, their frequently direct gazes challenge the viewer’s attention.
This sense of movement is translated through transparent layers of glazes, sometimes upward of 100 separate applications of color combining to create the final surface.

Gideon Börje (1891-1965)

Gustav Gideon Börje was a Swedish painter.
Gideon Börje studied at Tekniska skolan in Stockholm and worked gainfully for a few years, at the same time he conducted evening studies in croki at Wilhelmson's painting school.
He was persuaded by Eric Hallström to devote himself to painting seriously and the two then worked together for a time, including in a joint studio on Kungsholmen.
They also exhibited together in 1918 in Arturo Ciacelli's art gallery on Strandvägen in Stockholm.

Born in Iran, Hanie Soltani is an representational figurative painter based in Tehran.
She earned an MFA in painting from Tehran University, faculty of fine arts.
She pursued her further training on her own, and taking part in many courses under supervision of contemporary figurative painters; Zoey Frank, Vincent Desiderio, and Alex Kanevsky.

Paul Schulenburg, 1957

After receiving a gold medal from the National Scholastic Art Awards in 1975, Paul attended Boston University School of Fine Arts.
Contrary to the trends of that time, Boston University provided an educational foundation that emphasized the fundamentals of classical art training: anatomy and form, color, composition and draftsmanship.
His professors included Joseph Ablow, David Aronson, and John Wilson.
He received his BFA degree in painting in 1979.
