Claude Monet | Nymphéas / Water Lilies

Water Lilies / Nymphéas is a series of approximately 250 oil paintings by French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926).
The paintings depict Monet's flower garden at his home in Giverny, and were the main focus of Monet's artistic production during the last thirty years of his life.
Many of the works were painted while Monet suffered from cataracts.

Félix Vallotton | Figures and Portraits

Félix Edouard Vallotton (1865-1925) was a Swiss /French painter and printmaker associated with Les Nabis.
Vallotton was recognized as a very accomplished portrait painter, and painted portraits of many of the leading figures in the arts of his time.
His early work included a portrait of his fellow Nabi Édouard Vuillard.
The portraits of Vallotton featured both precision and a certain cold realism.

Marco Busoni, 1962 | Magic Realism painter

Born in Milan, Marco Busoni, at the age of 11 he discovered the paintings of French Impressionists, in particular the works of Claude Monet awake in him the passion for painting.
He degree in aeronautical engineering and in the following year he attended at the drawing and painting lessons the “Bergognone” school of Lodi.

Rosso Fiorentino | Pietà, 1538-1540

This is the only easel painting that can be dated with certainty to Rosso's stay in France in 1530-40.
The cushions beneath Christ's body bear the blue alerions on an orange background of the coat of arms of Constable Anne de Montmorency, from whose château at Ecouen the Pietà was taken to the Louvre in the late 18th century.
The marks visible on the bodies of Christ and St John are due to an initial, reversed composition - vsible under X-ray photography - which Rosso had blacked out.

Vyacheslav Korolenkov, 1958 | Impressionist painter

Vyacheslav (Slava) Korolenkov / Вячеслав Короленков was born in the small city of Tula, not far from Moscow.
Before entering Art School he studied drawing with a sculptor, and as a result was accepted to the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts on his first attempt.
While still a student one of his paintings represented the Stroganov Academy at an exhibition in Prague.

Ken Howard (1932- 2022) | Impressionist painter

Ken Howard OBE RA was an British artist and painter. He was President of the New English Art Club from 1998-2003.

Life and art

Ken Howard was born in London. He studied at the Hornsey College of Art (1949-53) and the Royal College of Art (1955-58). In 1958 he won a British Council Scholarship to Florence.

Alfredo Roldán, 1965 | Figurative painter

Alfredo Roldàn was born in Madrid. At the age of 22, having had no formal artistic training, he started drawing professionally, selling his work in street markets, at the same time presenting his work at major competitions, of which he won several.
It was on winning the award granted by the City Council of Madrid in 1994 that he was discovered by a major gallery.
His winning painting now hangs in the Museum of Modern Art, Madrid.
