David Ligare, 1945 | Neo-classic painter



David Ligare is an American* contemporary realist painter. 
Since 1978, he has focused on painting still lifes, landscapes, and figures that are informed by Greco-Roman antiquity. 
Chief among his stated influences are the aesthetic and philosophical theories of the Greek sculptor Polykleitos and the mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, as well as the work of the 18th-century classical painter Nicholas Poussin. 
A resident of Salinas, California, his paintings often depict the terrain of the central Californian coast in the background.

Denis Oktyabr 1977 ~ Impressionist painter

Son of a popular Siberian artist Valery Oktyabr, Денис Октябрь was born in a Russian city Novoaltaisk to continue the family artistic tradition. In 1992 Denis finished Artists School and in 1997 graduated Artistic College of Novoaltaisk. Oktyabr paints portraits, landscapes, genre pictures. In his paintings Oktyabr tries to abstract his mind and brush from shapes and stereotypes to reflect feelings, emotions and to illustrate the sacred process of perception and meditation. Shapes and colors of his paintings are perfect instruments to explore and embody ideas and sensations. Looking at his pictures one feels that there is a vision of the way things are intended to be, but never are.

Mary Cassatt (born May 22, 1844, Allegheny City [now part of Pittsburgh], Pennsylvania, U.S.-died June 14, 1926, Château de Beaufresne, near Paris, France), American painter and printmaker who was part of the group of Impressionists working in and around Paris. She took as her subjects almost exclusively women and children.
Cassatt was the daughter of a banker and lived in Europe for five years as a young girl. She was tutored privately in art in Philadelphia and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1861-65, but she preferred a less academic approach and in 1866 traveled to Europe to study with such European painters as Jean-Léon Gérôme and Thomas Couture. Her first major showing was at the Paris Salon of 1872; four more annual Salon exhibitions followed.

Francis Picabia ~ Cubist / Dada / Surrealist painter



Francis Picabia (born Francis-Marie Martinez de Picabia, 22 January 1879 - 30 November 1953) was a French avant-garde painter, poet and typographist. After experimenting with Impressionism and Pointillism, Picabia became associated with Cubism. His highly abstract planar compositions were colourful and rich in contrasts. He was one of the early major figures of the Dada movement in the United States and in France. He was later briefly associated with Surrealism, but would soon turn his back on the art establishment.

Mihály Von Munkácsy | Academic/Realist painter


Mihály Von Munkácsy (1844-1900), Hungarian painter, whose real name was Michael (Miska) Leo Lieb, was the third son of Michael Lieb, a collector of salt-tax in Munkács, Hungary, and of Cäcilia Röck. He was born in that town on the 20th of February 1844. In 1848 his father was arrested at Miskolcz for complicity in the Hungarian revolution, and died shortly after his release; a little earlier he had also lost his mother, and became dependent upon the charity of relations, of whom an uncle, Röck, became mainly responsible for his maintenance and education.

La Goglia fu raffinata pittrice, direttrice del museo di Cerreto Sannita, insegnate di corte di Maria Josè Del Belgio, ancora oggi è apprezzata e presente in importanti vendite all'asta e vari musei nel mondo.

Gustave Courbet was born in 1819 in Ornans, a small town in the heart of the Franche-Comté. He was the eldest of four children, and the only son. They were a close-knit family and prosperous, thanks to his father's extensive estates.
Courbet showed his affection for his family throughout his life. He left behind many portraits of them, sometimes among the figures in his great compositions.

Guido Di Pietro [1395-1455], frate domenicano, detto il Beato Angelico o Fra' Angelico da Fiesole, è il pittore che cercò di saldare i nuovi principi rinascimentali, come la costruzione prospettica e l'attenzione alla figura umana, con i vecchi valori medievali gotici, quali la funzione didattica dell'arte e il valore mistico della luce. Fu beatificato da Papa Giovanni Paolo II nel 1984, anche se già dopo la sua morte era stato chiamato Beato Angelico, sia per l'emozionante religiosità di tutte le sue opere che per le sue personali doti di umanità e umiltà. Fu il Vasari, nelle Vite ad aggiungere al suo nome l'aggettivo "Angelico", usato in precedenza da fra Domenico da Corella e da Cristoforo Landino.

Armen Gasparian 1966 ~ Symbolist painter

Gasparian was born in South Armenia, where he studied art in George Ajrapetjana's workshop. He moved to St. Petersburg nearly two decades ago, and continues living and working there today. His works are in private collections worldwide, including Germany, Holland, Finland, North America, and Russia. His romantic images and use of symbolism convey nature with delicate lyricism. While the artist experimented with a bright palette in his earlier works, his later pieces are muted and convey a sense of calm and tranquility. The refined quality of these pieces is characteristic of the northern school of art. Gasparian has developed his own artistic language, combining the traditions of classical art and the new plastic form.

He was the son of painter Johannes Hau (1771-1838), who had emigrated from Northern Germany in 1795, and he grew up in the German community of Tallinn ("Reval" in German). His half-brother was the painter Woldemar Hau. From 1830-1832, he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.

Powers began drawing as a child with his father who was a medical illustrator, photographer and fine artist.  While watching and learning from him, his love of art began. Scott’s education began in high school with two extremely influential and supportive art instructors.  This led to four years of intensive study at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Camille Pissarro, in full Jacob-Abraham-Camille Pissarro (born July 10, 1830, St. Thomas, Danish West Indies-died Nov. 13, 1903, Paris, France), painter and printmaker who was a key figure in the history of Impressionism. Pissarro was the only artist to show his work in all eight Impressionist group exhibitions; throughout his career he remained dedicated to the idea of such alternative forums of exhibition. He experimented with many styles, including a period when he adopted Georges Seurat’s "pointillist" approach. A supportive friend and mentor to influential artists such as Paul Cézanne and Paul Gauguin, he was described by many who knew him as "Father Pissarro".

Carmen Giraldez was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1976. Carmen acquired her interest in art, and especially painting, from her father who is an avid collector and also a painter. Her early childhood training was  “at his knees” as she likes to say.
Since her childhood she has studied painting techniques and the arts through her father who had also painted from a very young age. In 1996 she began to study at Llotja from Barcelona A.A.O.A. (Arts and Crafts School) specializing in sculpture.
One year later Carmen Giraldez entered the University of Barcelona and graduated in 2002, from sculpture and painting. She was also pupil-assistant of sculptor Marçaginer (Marça, 1918-2006). Nowadays Giraldez works full time as a painter.

Virginia Palomeque, 1961 | Figurative Expressionism painter


Palomeque was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 1961. She has been painting and drawing since a very young age, attending various workshops and art schools. Later, she gained a place at the prestigious Manuel Belgrano National College of Fine Arts from which she graduated in 1989. Her work has been influenced by Expressionism and Realism, but it is the imprint of her own personality that makes it remarkable. The intensity of her painting and the singularity of her themes, developed through the bold use of colour in its purest expression, capture the imagination and enthrall spectators at all her shows. She has been exhibiting her work since 1990, has participated in many National, Provincial and Municipal art shows and has been awarded numerous prizes and honours.

Angelo Bellini was born in 1938 in Mantova, Italy. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera (Milano) and a talented sketcher, his work became the precursor of a new style based on the fragmentation of time, space and light. Each work results in a kaleidoscope of colors, contrasts and emotions. His art was soon recognized internationally and is featured in many European galleries and museums (Pinacotheque Friuli in Grosseto, Sassoferrato, Rome, Padova, Cagliari and Palermo Museums of Modern Art). Angelo Bellini's highly sophisticated sense of culture appears in each of his paintings, while at the same time he keeps alive the sense of discovery and surprise of his childhood.

Roman Frances, 1950

Jose Miguel Roman Frances, Spanish painter, was born in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain. At The age of fourteen he began to paint in the workshop of Gaspar Frances Rico. Rico became more of a friend than a teacher, and his work influenced Frances' artistic formation.
Frances' work is characterized by its superb draftsmanship and the feeling of light that he manages to reflect in everything that inspires him. His paintings are employed lavishly, with dense buildups in the floral groupings and the landscapes surrounding the female figures which are the core and focus from which all else radiates. His work can be found in many important public and private collections in over 30 countries, including the United States, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, The United Emirates, Japan, Mexico and Canada. He has had more than 50 personal exhibitions and had participated in many collective exhibitions. He has exhibited at El Greco, the Gaudi and the Castellon 120 in Madrid, the Sala Gabernia and Segrelles in Valencia, the Sala Florins in Barcelona and Bandit in Malaga, among others.
