Zoey Frank, 1987 ~ Figurative painter

American painter Zoey Frank was born in Boulder, Colorado. Her early inclination to create was developed by a primary and secondary education in the Waldorf school system. After studying Renaissance art at the age of thirteen she knew she wanted to pursue a career as an artist, and began to daydream about being an apprentice in Raphael’s studio in the 1500s. Years later when she discovered Juliette Aristide’s Classical Atelier a Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, it resonated as the contemporary equivalent of the Old Masters’ studios - a place where she could learn the skills necessary to create powerful and lasting work.
Zoey completed four years of training in drawing and painting within the Atelier. She works primarily from life and is captivated by both the idiosyncrasies of the individual objects and people she paints, and the larger archetypes that they can represent. Some of her influences include Rembrandt, Vermeer, Sargent and Wyeth. She is currently working from her studio in Boulder.
