Charlotte Bird, 1958 | The Garden of Love

Charlotte Bird is an English photographer and artist, who uses children as models for her photographic shots, and then transforms them into fairies with the help of a digital post-production, or by combining elements and a background painted in watercolors.

His style is purely Victorian, with domestic environments or English courtyards, with warm and welcoming atmospheres.

Charlotte Bird was born in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, England.

Her family was stationed there with her Father who was in the R.A.F.

Her Father often read fairy stories and poetry to her before bed and it is to these that she owes her love of the little folk.

She left Suffolk when she was five and the family came to live in Wallasey, near Liverpool, where she lives with her husband Brian.

Charlotte started photography at the age of seven.

Her Father was a keen photographer and printer and the family set up a darkroom in the cellar of the house.

Although Charlotte had dabbled in photography in her early years, it wasn't until her two children had grown up that she took it up seriously.

After attending the local college,

Charlotte finished with a diploma in photography, qualifying with seven distinctions.

Enchanted by the work of the mid Victorian's, especially fairies and the Pre – Raphaelites, she developed a style that was influenced by these.

Charlotte Bird è nata a Bury St Edmunds nel Suffolk, in Inghilterra.

Suo padre le leggeva spesso fiabe e poesie prima di andare a letto ed è a queste che lei deve il suo amore per la piccola gente.

Ha lasciato il Suffolk quando aveva cinque anni e la famiglia è venuta a vivere ad Wallasey, vicino a Liverpool, dove vive con suo marito Brian.

Charlotte ha iniziato a fotografare all'età di sette anni.

Suo padre era un appassionato fotografo e tipografo e la famiglia allestì una camera oscura nella cantina di casa.

Sebbene Charlotte si fosse dilettata nella fotografia nei suoi primi anni, è stato solo quando i suoi due figli sono cresciuti che l'ha presa sul serio.

Incantata dal lavoro della metà vittoriana, in particolare dalle fate e dai preraffaelliti, sviluppò uno stile che ne fu influenzato.
