Sidney Meteyard | Pre-Raphaelite painter

Sidney Harold Meteyard RBSA (1868-1947) was an English art teacher, painter and stained-glass designer.

A member of the Birmingham Group, he worked in a late Pre-Raphaelite style heavily influenced by Edward Burne-Jones and the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Meteyard was born in Stourbridge, his father was Oswald George Meatyard (d. 4 May 1906) and mother Emma Maria Meatyard, née Rutland (1838-1925).

He studied under Edward R. Taylor at the Birmingham School of Art, where he was to later teach for 45 years himself from 1886.

Antonietta Brandeis | Il Ponte Vecchio, Firenze, 1910

Antonietta Brandeis (Miskovice, 13 gennaio 1848 - Firenze, 20 marzo 1926) è stata una pittrice Italiana di ritratti e di pale religiose.

Giovinezza

Nata in Boemia, a Miskovice, l'adolescente Antonietta è menzionata come pupilla dell'artista praghese Karel Javůrek. Dopo la morte del padre, la madre Giuseppina Dravhozvall si sposò con il veneziano Giovanni Nobile Scaramella; apparentemente la famiglia si trasferì poco dopo in laguna.

Nel 1867 entrò nell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, figurando come una delle prime donne a seguire lezioni di Belle Arti in Italia.

Infatti, le donne si vedranno riconosciuto il diritto legale di ricevere un'educazione artistica solo nel 1875.

Born in Mitaka City, Tokyo, Japanese artist Kazuhiko Fukuōji (福王寺一彦) as the second son of the painter Horin Fukuoji (1920-2012).

After graduating from Seijo Gakuen High School in 1974, he was selected for the first time at the institute exhibition in 1978, and won the Nihon Bijutsuin Award and Grand Prize at the institute exhibition in 1987 and 1988.

In 1992, his institute exhibition work was purchased by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

This fragment, there is a second also in the Musée d'Orsay, is one of the remaining parts of the monumental Luncheon on the Grass by Monet.

The work was started in the spring of 1865 and measured over four metres by six.

It was intended to be both a tribute and a challenge to Manet whose painting of the same title had been the subject of much sarcasm from the public as well as the critics when it was exhibited in the Salon des Refusés in 1863.

But the project was abandoned in 1866, just before the Salon where Monet intended to show it, opened.

In 1875, he enrolled at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he studied with Andreas Müller, Ernst Deger and Eugen Dücker.
