Charles J. Dwyer, 1961 ~ Expressionist painter

Charles J. Dwyer, Jr. was born in 1961. A Wisconsin native, Dwyer graduated from the Milwaukee School of Art, where he studied fine arts, painting and printmaking.  Dwyer has shown his work in a variety of galleries across the U.S.A.

In the Spring of 1992 the artist's growing reputation was underlined when his first New York exhibition sold out.

Those who view Dwyer's art are captivated by the combination of the female form with autobiographical elements or hidden images. In many of the works, Dwyer combines hand-written script with the images. Working in mixed media for both his limited edition prints and unique works of art, the artist builds up a tactile surface. Style and technique enhance each other to present a romantic form of his very personal Expressionism.

Commissioned to create the official poster for Chicago's ARTEXPO '93 Dwyer has continued to explore our contemporary mores and milieu with his painting entitled The Three Graces of Chicago. Reinterpreting a classical theme, the artist created an image that captured the dynamics and history of the city.

In addition to his own art, Dwyer has been involved with a decorative arts and restoration studio, where he recreates murals in various landmark buildings.

His real love, however, remains his own work. As the artist once noted, I desire to create an art that is, at once visually exciting and thought-provoking.

Dwyer è diplomato alla Scuola d'Arte di Milwaukee, dove ha studiato belle arti, pittura e incisione. Dwyer ha mostrato il suo lavoro in numerose gallerie in tutto gli USA e altre collezioni d'arte pubbliche e private a Monaco, Germania, a Barcellona, Spagna. Charles Dwyer ha padroneggiato, disegnando e dipingendo, la figura femminile. Noto per fare opere di tecnica mista su carta e tela, a strati con simboli, disegni e deviazioni astratte. Nell'ambito del restauro, Dwyer ha ricreato murali in vari edifici storici, murales e disegni decorativi in vetro colorato. Affascinato dalla complessità sia della forma umana e la mente umana, Dwyer trova ispirazione per la sua arte nella semplicità del volto, e si espande su questo nel suo amore per fare ritratti. Utilizzo di tecniche miste di creare immagini con entrambi letterale e figurativo strati. Specializzato in molte aree del processo creativo, disegno rimane comunque più vicino al suo cuore. "Il disegno è il fondamento di tutto", afferma Dwyer. "È una specie di primitiva". Gran parte della sua ispirazione viene dalle fotografie si prende di persone, sia anonima e familiare. Egli trova che la fotografia è una parte critica del suo processo artistico. Inoltre, è stato durante i suoi studi al college egli "innamorato" con il processo di stampa di incisione e litografia su pietra. Dwyer possibile spostare in qualcosa che ha voluto fare il modulo 3-diminsional della figura femminile nella scultura dando la vastità della sua opera un giro completo e in perfetto tempismo per il picco del suo viaggio artistico.
