Audrey Marienkoff, 1980

Mollie Kellogg | Magical Mystical painter

California-based artist and film-maker Mollie Kellogg’s award-winning Incognito Witch Project, celebrating hidden magick, is described by Mz Urban Art in New York City as "An American painter who births wonderfully mystic personalities on her heavily textured canvases".
Art appraiser Corinne Cain observes: "The metallic pigments together with superior drawing skills enable a three-dimensionality not accomplished by others".
Citing the closest comparison to another artist's work as Alfred Leslie, she adds, "Leslie’s portrait expressions relate to some of Kellogg's works, but they lack the depth and three-dimensionality, not to mention the glitter and thick paint/pigment application".

Irene Gendelman

The beauty of Irene’s paintings reside in her astute use of subdued colours, reflecting the different nuances and shadows of cities. Her textured surfaces complement her subject matter in revealing the solid aspect of building construction yet her use of fine, thin lines, delicately placed to give an air of lightness to the scene.

Vie Dunn-Harr, 1953

Dunn-Harr found her artistic expression slowly, yet deliberately, and continues to explore the many possibilities in the arts. She studied in Florence, Italy at the Lorenzo de Medici Instituto de Arte and at the Toblach-Dobbiaco Academia Italia. She derived much of her early experience from the traditional school and continues to embrace formalism. Her works are organic forms rooted in architectural elements. The forms are sensuous and portray the force and fragility of nature. Dunn-Harr considers herself a contemporary realist and has exhibited in the USA, Europe and Mexico.

Kwon Kyung-yup - a graduate of Sejong University in Korea, begins her process by taking photographs first; this captures all the details and expressions.
She then makes a draft of the photo and paints in on canvas with oil.
Although it seems unorthodox, this technique was employed in the beginning stages of photography.
Before photography was possible to print, they were used as a research tool in developing wood engraved illustrations.

Albert Reuss 1889-1976

Albert Reuss 1889-1976

Albert Reuss was born in Budapest in 1889 into a Jewish family called Reiss. His father was a butcher and expected his sons to follow that trade. At the age of eighteen, in spite of strong opposition, Albert left home and moved to Vienna intending to begin a career as an artist. He was self-taught. He said that he had the best teachers, the great master painters of all time, for he began to earn a modest living by making salable copies of many world-famous paintings in the Viennese art galleries and museums. Just as he was beginning to make his way in the art world with his own individual work, there came the Nazi annexation of Austria. Albert changed his name to Reuss, but due to the dangerous political situation he and his wife, Rosa, were compelled to leave the country along with many other Jewish refugees and were offered asylum in Britain.

Ciro Palumbo, 1965 | Surrealist / Symbolist painter

Ciro Palumbo was born in Zurich, currently resides and works in Torino.
His artistic career was originally influenced by the poetics of the Metaphysical school of Giorgio de Chirico and Alberto Savinio, reinventing however those foundations with a personal and completely original interpretation.
In his research, he proceeded through moments of contemplation and metaphyisical silences, contrasted by nocturnal and intimately wrought expressivity, where one can feel the clean break from the silent immobility which resides in the works of the Pictor Optimus.
His art represents therefore stages on which objects are carriers of oniric symbolism.

Jean-François Millet (1814-1875), French painter, who came of a peasant family, was born on the 4th of October 1814 in the hamlet of Gruchy, near Greville (La Manche), in the wild and picturesque district called La Hague.
His boyhood was passed working in his father's fields, but the sight of the engravings in an old illustrated Bible set him drawing, and thenceforth, whilst the others slept, the daily hour of rest was spent by Millet in trying to render the familiar scenes around him.

Odile de Schwilgué, 1952 | Surrealist figurative painter

Born in Alsace, she spent the first sixteen years of her life in a small town near Strasbourg. "She did not become a painter by chance".
She owes her talent to her maternal great-grandmother. At a time when a woman did not fulfil herself in a professional capacity, the latter - despite a premature death - left a varied collection of her work behind, including some superb frescoes in the family home.
Odile has certainly inherited her passion. Everything was a pretext to draw and paint, to the detriment of classes at college which bored her.

Mélanie Bourget, 1972 | Ceramic sculptures

Mélanie Bourget’s work focuses on the human being. She creates Figurative sculptures in a contemporary yet a little offbeat style, oscillating between Realism and Fantasy.
Then she subjects them to the raku technique. Big busts of women with crazy hairstyles, mysterious and dreamy little characters are in a few words the poetic and fragile characters that live in her world.
Raku is an enamelling technique of Korean origin, that was further developed in Japan in the sixteenth century.
These creatures are alive; they transmit deep and mixed feelings.
And through the cracks of glaze we can see with accuracy the human soul…
Mélanie thinks of her mysterious characters as poetic, fragile creatures that transmit deep feelings.
Through her art they come alive and through the cracks of their glaze we see the human soul.

Victor Ostrovsky, 1949

Born in Canada, Victor moved to Israel at the age of five. His inclination for the arts was apparent from a very early age. The well known Israeli painter, Giladi, lived on the same street and would often set up his easel outdoors to paint. Victor would watch, spellbound, on his way to and from school as Giladi created wonderful images on the blank canvas. Eventually, the artist presented Victor with his own box of oil paints and took the time to guide him into a world where expressions come through images and color, handing the child a gift that would soon become a passion.

Jacek Yerka, 1952 ~ Surrealist painter

Jacek Yerka was born in Toruń, Poland, where he later studied fine art and graphic design. According to Yerka, he was pressured by his university instructors to eschew detail and realism in favor of the fashion of the times - but did not relent, adhering to the meticulous classic Flemish technique that still typifies his work. In time they came to see him as a brilliant - though troubled - talent. Yerka graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, specializing in printmaking. He began working full time as an artist in 1980.

Claudio Perina

Svetlana Bobrova ~ Surrealist painter

The surreal world, created by Svetlana, is full of strange creatures. In this world everything is possible. Her artworks are full of energy, passion and grotesqueness. Like dreams, they are born from real anxieties and experiences, taking the spectator far into the depths of sub-consciousness. They have a hypnotic internal glow, which penetrates the eyes with tonal transitions of neon, green, yellow and blue.

Guine Gerard, 1947 | Abstract Figurative painter

Ludmila Curilova

Ludmila Curilova is an Moldovan painter. Curilova's work is influenced by illusory theatre art and it retains the decorative quality of a fairy tale setting. Within her paintings on paper and canvas, warm, rich colors glow with an almost magical essence. At times her figures exist in a subdued dreamscape amidst fruit and flowers. While Curilova uses traditional media and tools: acrylic paint, brushes and art knive, she also experiments with small clay sculptures.
