Meredith Frampton | Art Deco painter

George Vernon Meredith Frampton RA (17 March 1894 - 16 September 1984) was a British painter and etcher, successful as a portraitist in the 1920s.

His artistic career was short and his output limited because his eyesight began to fail in the 1950s, but his work is on display at the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Gallery and Imperial War Museum.

Mike Ludlow | Pin-up illustrator

Mike Ludlow (1921-2010), American illustrator, was born in 1921 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. He attended the Art Students League, where he studied with William McNulty.

His first commercial art assignment, for the Sunday supplement of the Journal American, came in 1948.

From the beginning, Ludlow has specialized in glamorous subjects and made beautiful women his trademark.

Australian painter Loui Jover was born in a small European town at what he calls a small house with a green door. He immigrated to Australia from Europe with his parents at a young age. Loui began drawing as a young child and never stopped chasing his artistic dream throughout his youthful years when most children discard artistic endeavors to pursue other careers.

He began his studies in commercial and graphic art in 1980 through a correspondence course from Melbourne Art Institute. He also holds an Advanced Certificate in Visual Communication that he formally attained in 1994.

He joined the army in 1989 where he worked as an illustrator reprographic which is was basically a regimental photographer and illustrator for the military. When he left the army, Loui continued drawing as a self-represented artist up to now.

Cima da Conegliano | Early Renaissance painter

Giovanni Battista Cima, also called Cima da Conegliano (c. 1459 - c. 1517), was an Italian** Renaissance painter, who mostly worked in Venice.

He can be considered part of the Venetian school, though he was also influenced by Antonello da Messina, in the emphasis he gives to landscape backgrounds and the tranquil atmosphere of his works.

Once formed his style did not change greatly. He mostly painted religious subjects, often on a small scale for homes rather than churches, but also a few, mostly small, mythological ones.

James Tissot | The Prodigal Son in Modern Life | Series

In 1880, French painter and illustrator Jacques Joseph Tissot (1836-1902) began an important series portraying the subject of the Prodigal Son, now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Nantes.

The series formed a centre-piece of Tissot's one man exhibition at the Dudley Gallery in London in 1882 and later shown at the Palais de L'Industrie in Paris, in 1883.

Bernard Cathelin (1919-2004) | School of Paris

Bernard Cathelin was a French painter born in Paris and a member of the School of Paris which included Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Dufy and many others including Maurice Brianchon, Cathelin's teacher at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.

Although he received critical acclaim as early as 1950, Cathelin was not able to live solely from his painting until 1955.

Since that time Cathelin has received steadily increasing recognition and has been featured in over 50 exhibitions worldwide.

Throughout his life, he maintained a deep-rooted love for his country and especially for the Drôme, where his mother came from.

After the death of Brandeis' father, her mother, Giuseppina Dravhozvall, married the Venetian Giovanni Nobile Scaramella; shortly afterward the family apparently moved to Venice.
